Kaitlyn is a student at Winona State University studying a major in Business Administration and a double minor in Philosophy and Music. She also plans to take summer courses at Crystal Waters, an award winning ecovillage and wildlife refuge in Australia. There, she will learn the finer points of green living, including land assessment for optimal use, site planning and analysis, aquaculture, storage and management, ecological pest management, how to establish organic vegetable gardens, energy efficient design technologies, urban renewal strategies, and community design and economics. Growing up in a small farming community where her parents started their own small business, she saw the joys of working at something you love, and decided that she, also, would like to blur the lines of work and play. Through the rest of her educational career, she will gather information, habits, and skills that will aid the efforts of businesses and organizations move forward. Until her projected graduation in 2012, she will be interning, absorbing, watching, and learning to help cultivate a more morally sensible, environmentally responsible, and economically sustainable way of life.
